Kanyeeze Losing it? - Drizzy gaining it?
Kanye West - I’m So Appalled
Kanye West - What is this? You cant just repeat a phrase endlessly at the end of a track. That's a completely different genre of music.
Drake feat. Nickelus F - When We Come Around
Drake - Nice. Carry on.
via Nah Right
Vampire Weekend - Cousins
Entirely underserving of its blogger-battering. It's a perfectly good song. One of their better ones (although it does sometimes scrape a little close to the A-punk bone)

Maggie may (Also my favourite song of his)
and First cut is the deepest (Cat Stevens cover)
A true legend.
The Endless GAZA war
"Vybz Kartel Rejects Mavado’s Peace Offer & Cranks The War Up A Notch" writes Dancehall.mobi
Vybz Kartel's reply to Mavado after his peace offering and using the Isreal Riddim (illegitimately)
Vybz Kartel - Rifle Shot
I prefer Mavado's take on this occasion

Elephant Man - Die by gun
Speaking of straight forward lyrics:
"f*@k with badman, and they shoot you, with dem gun"
Pretty straight forward. Gets the message across.

Girls - A good thing?
I'm a bit at a loss over this band.
Tearing away from all the hipster hype there is definitely something to them.
I came across them by listening to this track (Lust for life):
As catchy as the song is, there is something in the lyrics that just rubs me up the wrong way. Probably the fact that:
- I don't wish I had a boyfriend
- I do have a father
- I'd like to think I turned out right
- I'm not crazy
- Or in fact totally mad
- And certainly not f@*ked in the head
However, I can most definitely sympathise with wanting:
- A sun tan
- A Pizza and a Bottle Of Wine (actually I have half a bottle in the kitchen)
- A Beach House
- Using it in a group to make a big fire every night
Then the matter of the x rated video that circled around following this one. Not really my cup of tea
Then there is Hellhole Rat Race:
The lyrics again. Very morbid and yet very candid. No clever word play or ambiguous metaphors here. Just a a big soppy teenage bedroom diary entry
And for that reason I find them quite refreshing, but in a voyeuristic way.

Your Love - Bon Iver (The Outfield Cover)
I listened to this to death last Christmas. Seeing all the lights up around Camden brought it right back to the forefront of my ipod playlist.
Certainly different from the original:
And a world in front of this Katy Perry tragedy:

Two Headed Boy - Neutral Milk Hotel
Jeff Magnum here looking like somewhat of a demented Myra Hindley. A spooky video and nothing like I imagined him performing live
Still, one of my favourite tracks of one of my favourite albums of all time:
Via Pitchfork
Beach House - Teen Dream (album)
This album is absolutely stunning. Been listening to the Leak all week.
Its like walking around in a big see-through helium balloon filled with warmth and fuzzy little toys. Perfect when juxtaposed next to a bleary and murky London week.
My fav tracks so far:
Beach House - Zebra
Beach House - 10 Mile Stereo

Song he was reffering to:
In this song (Exhibit A):
Hip hop can really be beautiful

Dances I wished I'd learnt this year but didn't
The Ricky Bobby
Definitely number 1. In fact I still might learn it (in private)
The Stanky Leg
This one I may have performed drunk
The Bird walk
This one I definitely haven't done yet

Made in Jamaica at the ICA Review
Just saw this tonight and I have to say it was pretty awesome. Unfortunately It had almost no plot or story to it but rather just a string of dancehall and reggae related interviews/songs/videos.
Highlight has to be Elephant mans performance in Amsterdam and his little sing-song a the end
I can't say I learnt anything or am any fonder of the music as a result but definitely feel I got my moneys worth
Jay Electronica - Best Rapper Alive?
This guy is so tight. I still remeber falling in love with his Stylewars EP. Especially this tune:
Anyway here is recent live set he did (via Nah Right)

Cold Blooded
Gang gully.
This is nuts. This is the reason I got into Grime.
It goes on for a while and there are several parts but its well worth sticking with them
5: Five Years Of Hyperdub
http://open.spotify.com/album/6a6PyGv5ZB1kR8QPV5aLHy
Don't sleep on this album. Deserves all the buzz its generated this week.
Freddie Gibbs - Womb to the Tomb Video
My 2nd fav mixtape of the year so far ( fav is this, or maybe that is last year?)
produces a slick vid for one of its best tracks. This guy is on fire right now.
Flow Dan - Orginal Dan
Just copped this today. Seriously intensely fantastic.
Some serious rhymes on this and having been a big fan of Flowdan for a while now I'm glad he has finally put out a full album
My fav tracks so far are:
- Show them
- Run Red

5 reasons I've fallen in love with the Heatwave Funky Bashment mix
http://www.theheatwave.net/mixes/theheatwave-funkybashment.mp3
1) Natalie Storm saying "Lucky Baby" during the intro
2) The mixing is dope dope dope
3) 6 mins 35 seconds
4) Hearing "Badman place" at that tempo and it still sounding wicked
5) My right foot's inability to stop tapping

Just finished reading this. Making music for 10 years is a pretty mean feat for 20 somethings. Also this still rattles around in my head occasionally
